iChoose: Real Talk on Sexual Health

First Annual Teen Summit

It's free, it's fun, and best of all it's empowering!

 

The facts:

When it comes to sexual health and teens:

  • 1 in 4 teen girls have a sexually transmitted infection
  • Only 40% of teens who have children before the age of 18 graduate from high school
  • Texas ranks 1st in the nation in teen birth rates.

 

So what can you do?

 

As a parent: Attend the pre-summit parenting session and increase your skills in communicating with your teen.

As a teen:Attend the iChoose; Real Talk on Sexual Health Summer Youth Summit. It will give you the opportunity to educate yourself about sexual health, while having fun!

 

 

The purpose:

To educate andempoweryoung people to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections by making informed decisions.

  

The attendees:

200-250 people between the ages of 13-18 in the Austin area who will attend various interactive fun workshops.

  

The workshops:

Teens can pick from workshops on assertiveness and communication, body image, values clarification, abstinence, dating and healthy relationships, reproductive anatomy, family planning skills, and much more! (Click on the workshop names int he side bar for more information.)

 

 

 

 

 

SUMMIT SCHEDULE

 

10:00-10:30-Registration

10:30-11:45-1st session

11:45-12:15-Lunch with a presentation

12:15-12:45-Performance

12:45-1:15-Health Fair Scavenger Hunt

1:15-2:30-2nd session

2:30-3:45-3rd session

3:45-4:30-Closing entertainment and evaluations

4:30-Student pick-up
